Deep & Wide provides church leaders with an in-depth look into North Point Community Church and its strategy for creating churches unchurched people absolutely LOVE to attend. Andy writes,“Our goal is to create weekend experiences so compelling and helpful that even the most skeptical individuals in our community would walk away with every intention of returning the following week . . . with a friend!”
If your team is more concerned with who you are REACHING than who you are KEEPING, Deep & Wide will be more than a book you read; it will be a resource you come back to over and over!
- If we are looking to reach the unchurched, this book is a good starting point and especially the section on Spiritual Formation. Review by John T.
I am reading and rereading a good book that has been a Blessing. It is entitled "Deep & Wide - Creating Churches Unchurched People Love to Attend" by Andy Stanley. As the title indicates it deals with persons who have little or no contact with the Church. His father serves one of the biggest churches in Atlanta and Andy Stanley has made it his calling. The Stanley name and being non-United Methodist has scared some of my colleagues, but the book is loaded page after page. When I read the initial review and, then, the book I contacted the reviewer and said that he had "undersold" the book.
In the book he has a section on preaching. It is Section Three - Going Deep - Rethinking Spiritual Formation. Fred Craddock's book on Preaching spoke to me and this book has challenged me in my preaching.
If we are looking to reach the unchurched, this book is a good starting point and especially the section on Spiritual Formation.
