Our Heavenly Father desires to have an intimate relationship with us—a relationship in which we can be fully known with no fear of rejection. God's intimacy with man was destroyed when sin, sorrow, and death entered the world. And God has been striving to reconcile the relationship ever since. In this 10-part series, Andy Stanley explores the obstacles that hinder intimacy with God and how to remove them. DOWNLOAD ONLY

Part 1 - Somebody's Knocking at the Door (Andy Stanley)

We have a Heavenly Father who desires to have an intimate relationship with us, a relationship in which we can be fully known with no fear of rejection. Genesis 1:26-28, Revelation 21

Part 2 - Intimacy Broken (Andy Stanley)

God created man in a perfect environment for a relationship with Himself. When man abused his freedom, intimacy was destroyed and sin, sorrow, and death entered the world. God has been striving to reconcile the relationship ever since. Genesis 3

Part 3 - The Promise of Restoration (Andy Stanley)

God is serious about having an intimate relationship with us. No matter what we have done, God will follow through with His plan to restore intimacy--a plan He began 4,000 years ago. Genesis 15

Part 4 - Invitation to Intimacy (Andy Stanley)

The invitation that was extended to the shepherds when Jesus was born is a standing invitation to all mankind. They heard, they believed, and they responded by going to Bethlehem. We must hear, believe and respond by putting our faith in Jesus as our Savior. Micah 5:2; Luke 2:8

Part 5 - God's Part (Andy Stanley)

We underestimate the significance of what happened at the cross and we over estimate the significance of our personal deeds of righteousness. We live with the illusion that our good works somehow put us in better standing with God. We need to realize that we are already as loved and as accepted as we'll ever be by God. We have been made righteous. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Part 6 - Time Out (Andy Stanley)

When we pray, we usually want God to fix something immediately. What if God just needs to say something or explain something to us? We must learn to open His word and listen. Spending time alone communicating with God will make it easier to communicate with us. Mark 1:32-37, Luke 5:15-16

Part 7 - The Role of Scripture (Andy Stanley)

If we could see as God sees, we would be more inclined to do as God says. When we use God's word to listen, we gain wisdom, insight and understanding. This is the basis for good decision making. Our greatest regrets could have been avoided if we had this wisdom, insight and understanding. Psalm 119:97-105

Part 8 - Listening Skills 101 (Andy Stanley)

In order to have a daily quiet time, we need to: 1. Choose a time and place 2. Read and Write: Date, Scripture, What does this passage say?, Why is this important?, What should I do about it?, How can I remember this? 3. Pray 4. Journal.

Part 9 - Fatal Distractions (Andy Stanley)

Busyness is the #1 enemy of intimacy with God. Knowing God requires that we give Him "un-rushed" time and our undivided attention. If we are too busy to spend time each day with our heavenly father, we've lost perspective. Are we willing to re-prioritize our lives to invest in things with a long-term benefit? Luke 10:38

Part 10 - Clearing Out the Clutter (Andy Stanley)

We can control our busyness by re-prioritizing our values. God wants us to put Him ahead of our daily worries and then He will take care of all our needs. If Jesus is our first priority, all other things will fall into place. Busyness is just a symptom of seeking the wrong things first. Matthew 6:33
