When you stop to consider the decaying moral and ethical climate in our culture and in our world, you may be tempted to wonder, "Is there any hope? Will things ever improve?"

Two thousand years ago Jesus addressed a handful of men and women who had the same questions, doubts, and fears. Imagine their surprise when he announced, "You are the salt of the earth . . . You are the light of the world." Translated: You have been strategically placed by God to preserve culture and illuminate God's will for man.

In this 4-part series, Andy Stanley unpacks what it means to be salt and light on location—where we live, work, and play.

MESSAGE TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS

  1. Head Count (38:51)
There is a story in the Old Testament that is striking in its depiction of society at its worst and in its depiction of how God dealt with it. It is the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. A story that is disturbing in some of its details and yet reveals one of God’s values–a value that helps to explain your unique role at work, in your neighborhood, and in this nation. Genesis 18:17-22; Genesis 18:23-33; 2 Peter 3:9; Genesis 19:1-26

  2. Being There (38:04)
Standing on a hillside Jesus gave the followers who had assembled to hear him a unique label. A label that would explain what their purpose was for being on this earth, and one that is as applicable to his followers today as it was then. Discover what that label is and how it impacts how you see yourself and why you have been placed on location. Matthew 5:13

  3. Shine (38:05)
In our early years, when life is changing and new experiences await us at every turn, purpose usually doesn’t show up on our radar. We’re much more concerned with who, what, and where to stop and consider the why. But at some point this question rises to the forefront, often due to discontentment with the rut of later life. So why are we here? As we look for the answer to the question of purpose, we’ll look to Jesus to shed some light on the matter. Matthew 5:14-16

  4. Road Trip (45:52)
The workplace might be the last location where you’d consider mentioning your faith. But it just might be the most important. What if God strategically placed you in your workplace for that very purpose? In this session, we?ll discuss the idea of mixing business with God’s greatest pleasure. Matthew 5:16
